THE NATIVE PERSPECTIVE, THE ABORIGINAL VOICE HEARD THROUGHOUT
ALBERTA
"The drum is our heartbeat and the wind
is our ancestor's voice, to never be forgotten but embraced and
passed on to our children and the next generation. The album
Blackfoot Sky by Ira Provost is a Story of Pride, History
and Knowledge that Ira expresses in the title track from the
album. It begins with the soft whisper of the southern wind and
beat of the drum, the sound of a jingle can be heard which can
represent our native heritage. The song is about the rockies, the
wheat fields and what signifies the history of living under a
Blackfoot sky, to never be forgotten. The ancestor's that graced
those fields way before our time and the heritage that can never
be erased only cherished and embraced. It is one thing to read
about Aboriginal History but it takes a brave soul to express and
teach that in song, Ira Provost does that perfectly in the album
Blackfoot Sky".
